How do you say goodbye to a legend? You can’t!! Today the Upson County DA’s Office sent Mark M. Irvin into his next chapter of retirement in style. Mark, you could never be replaced, and we will miss you every day! Thank you for 30 years of service! We love you!
District Attorney Broder presented a program at Whitewater High School in Fayetteville today. She was a guest speaker in Coach Scott Schmitt's Career class. D.A. Broder spoke about her career and also the Timothy Coggins cold case, inspiring students who may have future careers in law.
The Spalding County Office tried Steven Mash for Kidnapping with Bodily Inury among other charges. The jury convicted him and the Honorable Ben Miller, Jr. sentenced Mash to Life in prison. The incident stemmed from a domestic violence relationship, where the victim was pulled across the ground by her hair, thrown in a vehicle and taken from the scene.
Congratulations to our new D.A. Investigator Rob Hullet and our Law Student Intern Lilly Nickels on their swearing in today by Superior Court Judge Fletcher Sams. Inv. Hullett brings over 27 years of law enforcement experience to our Fayette Office. Lilly Nickels was sworn in under the Georgia Student Practice Act. We are excited to have both of them join our Team!
A big thank you to State Animal Crimes Prosecutor Jessica Rock, USDA Investigations Special Agent Douglas Bridges and the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia for presenting Animal Law and Investigation Training at the Fayette County District Attorney's Office. We had attendees from across the State of Georgia who came to the class. Every seat was filled for the training on animal cruelty investigations and prosecution.
District Attorney Broder had the honor to speak to the Senoia Rotary Club last night regarding the role of the District Attorney. It was a great discussion and she provided updates on our office. The Senoia Rotary Club is in our neighbor circuit with many Fayette County members. Pictured below are District Attorney Marie Broder and Senoia Rotary Club President, Sam Morris.
