This week, Chief Assistant District Attorney Marie Broder and Assistant District Attorney Kathryn Lenhard with the Spalding County District Attorney’s Office tried the case of the State of Georgia vs. Steven Keith Spires in front of the Honorable W. Fletcher Sams and a Spalding County jury. The jury convicted Spires of Aggravated Child Molestation, Incest, 2 counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children, 3 counts of Child Molestation, Sodomy, and Statutory Rape. Judge Sams sentenced the defendant to Life in prison plus 120 years followed by 10 years on probation. Spires was convicted of engaging in sexual intercourse and other acts with his 12-year-old biological daughter over the course of 2 years. The defendant also filmed two of the interactions with his daughter. This evidence was presented to the jury.
The victim testified along with members of law enforcement, including the lead investigator, Carrie Williams-James, with the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office. Also presenting testimony to the jury were members of the Southern Crescent Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy Center, Dr. Angela Guidry, and two, now adult, prior victims of the defendant. Chief Assistant Marie Broder said: “This case was difficult and emotional for all parties. Kate and I could not have done this without the support and work of a very dedicated team with our office, law enforcement, and Southern Crescent. The bravery shown by the victim and the two other women who took the stand and testified, is inspiring. I am so proud of them and everyone who worked diligently to bring about a just result. Let the sentence be a message to those who prey upon the most vulnerable in our society. We will continue to fight to bring justice for those victims in our community.” District Attorney Coker stated, “I’m extremely proud of the work that Chief Assistant Marie Broder and ADA Kathryn Lenhard put into this case. I am also proud of law enforcement, members of the Southern Crescent team, and everyone else who testified throughout this week. This was an emotionally draining case for all parties involved, but my team worked tirelessly to ensure that a sexual predator will never victimize another child.”

You weren't at the trial you're just as manipulated by him as his previous victims have been.

I was 15 years old when steven keith spires raped me. I've never forgotten his name. My mom didn't want me to have to go through a trial, which was her mistake. He deserves to be where he is forever. Honestly, even that is too good for him. God only knows how many other victims are out there. I was beaten and raped in his grandmother's home while she was there. His mother even opened the door once and said "another one?" and shut the freaking door. That whole family should rot!

You know you’re just spreading bullshit, why are you lying? to get attention? Are you that lonely. Honestly it’s just messed up that you would even lie and say that, his grandmother has been dead probably long before you ever were born.

He is exactly where he should be. All these years I worried that he may be out there hurting more women and it was the biggest relief in my life to know he got what he deserves. People can say whatever they want to stick up for him. I have nothing to prove to anyone. Whether he hurt his children or not, I know he raped many women other than myself. The world is safer with him behind bars.

OK first off, If you are gonna post comments at least know the facts of a situation. The so called "victim" in this particular case has accused nearly her entire family of some form of abuse at one time or another making her either the most abused child ever or a pathological liar and unstable to say the least. Secondly its important to actually know what you are talking about before you speak because you can look really ignorant when facts come to light, for example in this case law enforcement had prior knowledge of many parts of evidence pertaining to particular elements of this case being withheld by the alleged victims family, yet no one in law enforcement cared to share that fact with defense instead choosing to hide this fact until it was accidentally revealed during trial. Evidence should never be withheld in a criminal case especially a case such as this, in the pursuit of justice its important to actually pursue and examine all parts of evidence openly, not providing what the state "wants" to show a jury. A reasonable fact finder "juror" cannot form an informed decision if parts of evidence are held back. The evidence in this case was in fact tampered with out of state by private citizens in a secret manner then turned over to law enforcement only after being tampered with. What responsible adult transfers and produces copies of this sort of material across state lines then withholds certain elements from law enforcement unless there is some thing to hide? Its easy for people to sit in the comfort of their homes behind a computer screen and troll the net making assumption after assumption believing everything they read online but actually knowing what you are talking about makes a difference. The fact this "victim" abused her own little sisters has apparently been buried and goes unmentioned, the fact this "victim" had an unhealthy obsession with the defendant in this case goes unmentioned, the fact the judge and DA acted highly unethically in the manner in which they performed their duties goes unmentioned, the fact the courts denied the defendant certain elements of due process goes unmentioned, the fact the DA literally fabricated and lied to the court and jury more than once goes unmentioned, the fact multiple adult women have verified the defendant does not actually appear to be the subject depicted in the "video" in this case goes unmentioned, the fact the defendant was taking the "victim" to therapy twice a week prior to this situation ever developing, and the concern of the therapist in this instance was abuse by "other family members" not the defendant, and since when is it common for someone to abuse a child in this manner to take their victim to therapy? Seems rather audacious in my opinion. Funny how none of this is mentioned. I do not advocate for people who abuse children. I how ever do not support law enforcement or the judicial system breaking the law to enforce the law or hiding evidence because they feel its just. If a subject is guilty a honest investigator does not need to hide or twist evidence. I've personally spoken with many people involved in this case and it appears the defendant may of had some issue with a temper but to accuse of him of this sort of crime does not fit. A person having a temper issue does not mean they are automatically some sexual deviant. As stated above knowing what you are talking about in a situation like this is important because facts are important. The way in which this trial was conducted is a disgrace to due process and the symbol of justice that our soldiers have fought and died to protect and defend and personally offends me. Its my personal opinion the DA and Judge should be removed from office for their conduct in allowing evidence to be tampered with in such a manner, and the DA for her inability to follow the law and proper ethics in handling a case as her own obvious personal bias jeopardizes the office in which she holds. We as citizens of this country cannot stand by and allow situations like this to happen and go unchecked. A little tampering and hiding evidence today leads to more tomorrow, break one rule then let's break another and another until there is no due process anymore. How can we as citizens trust that our system is actually working if the people who run it are allowed to throw out due process and pick and choose what a jury hears by hiding and concealing facts and fabricating stories to bias a jury. The entire point of a trial by jury is to present the evidence as it is and allow them the jury to determine what is reasonably true and fact. It should never be proper for a DA to manipulate the system in the manner this case was handled. It should be considered criminal for a judge or any member of law enforcement to knowingly allow a situation such as this to unfold the way this one did. Its their job to protect the evidence and insure it is authentic and that all possible suspect's and any other relevant issues are explore

None of that matters. Tony, Keith, Steven… the one person who has supported you for your whole life is dying. You need to humble yourself, have some compassion for your mother who has been seeking your love and approval your entire life. Stop being selfish and honor her, give her peace and tell her you love her and thank her for being there for you. Don’t wait until it’s too late. She deserves to rest in peace and you need to be there for her last days. It’s not about you. Your mother has been there for you, you need to step up and give her peace and love and gratitude. That’s it.

It's a shame that this manipulated his children to the point that one of his daughters actually believes he is innocent after he pointed a gun to her head! No mention of that.

Twyla, don’t believe for a minute that Allison posted that. She did not. Put everything aside about this case. He abused my daughter physically and mentally for many years and this twin daughters observed this along with prejudice and mentally abusing them. He is a manipulative selfish person who only cares about himself. He harasses them for his own purposes. Has never asked how they are or if they are ok. I know he posted as Allison. He needs to reflect and ask forgiveness for all the pain he has put them through. Brooklyn is not the only victim.
